Huge Optimizations and Fixes! (Final Version)
Hey guys!
I've been working on my 2nd game thanks to having reached a subscriber milestone on YouTube and as I was working on it earlier today, I learned a ton of new optimization techniques that I thought I could apply to Pete's Park and it worked!
File size and Graphical Optimizations:
Previously, the file size of Pete's Park was a ridiculous 8gb, or 3.5gb after having been compressed with 7zip. After the recent optimizations and fixes, the file size is now under 1gb and was uploaded directly to Itch.io! No more 'Mega' slow downloads, no more 3rd party websites to enjoy this game.
Graphically, I've sharpened up the graphics and introduced some more practical Post Processing to reduce eye-strain while maintaining the 'retro' look.
Gameplay fixes and additions:
After watching all of the gameplay videos made and taking in the feedback, I realized that I may not have done enough to lead the player to where they might need to go and this update addresses all of that.
I've also reduced the difficulty just a tad mostly for Horror reasons (to not frustrate the player and desensitize them from the scares) but also to ensure that everyone can make it through to the end.
Conclusion:
Thank you all so much for playing Pete's Park and for dealing with my inexperience. This will be the last update for Pete's Park as I am investing all of my free time on my newest project which will be releasing soon in time for Halloween.
Thanks again!
